The Best Way to Get to the YMCA?

On foot, of course, or by bicycle, bus or BART. You can spare the air, save a few bucks and burn some calories on your way here. For Full-Service Members who drive, we have validated parking during specified hours.

Bicycle

The Downtown Berkeley YMCA has bicycle parking with a security camera in front of the building. (Monday through Saturday, you can also leave your bike, for free, at Bikestation inside the Berkeley BART station. Hours are 6 a.m.- 9:30 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and holidays.)

Bus or BART

The Berkeley BART station and a hub of buslines are just a block from the YMCA, so taking public transportation is easy -- especially if you live or work near a BART station or major bus line. See the transportation page on the City of Berkeley's website for lots of useful information about public transportation.

Parking Validation at the Allston Way Parking Facility
Parking is validated for Downtown Berkeley YMCA Full-Service Members at the Allston Way Parking Facility (2061 Allston, right next door to the YMCA) during the following hours:

• Weekday Mornings, 6:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.: $1.00 for first 2 hours (must be out by 10:30 a.m.).
• Regular price applies after 2 hours.
• Weekday Evenings, 4:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.: Free for up to first 2 hours. If entering before 4:00 p.m., regular price applies until 4:00 p.m., followed by 2 free hours of validation, regular price applies after validated hours.
• Please note that after 5:00 p.m. you may need to enter the garage via the Center Street entrance, as during rush-hour the Allston side is exit-only. 
• Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Free for up to first 2 hours, must enter by NOON. Exit by 2:00 p.m. for validation to apply. Regular price applies after 2 hours. 

Parking validation is for Downtown Berkeley YMCA Full-Service Members only. Please stamp your parking garage ticket at the validation stamper at the Front Desk on your way out of the Y and have your YMCA photo ID ready to show the parking attendant. You will be charged the garage's usual rate for the entire time you're parked if you enter the garage prior to validation hours. You will also be charged the usual rate for any time over two hours or any time you are parked in the Allston Way garage after 10:00 a.m. on weekdays. Parking validation is only good while you're at the YMCA. Misuse of validation may result in loss of membership privileges.

• $1 for up to one hour
• $1.50 for 61 minutes to two hours on weekday mornings until 11:00 a.m. (exit time) and Saturdays until 2:00 p.m. (exit time)
• $3 for 61 minutes to two hours during times other than those listed above; $6 for 121 minutes to 3 hours; $10 for 181 minutes to 4 hours
